Following this evening’s announcement that Denbighshire is among the latest local authorities in Wales set to go into localised lockdown later this week, Vale of Clwyd MP Dr James Davies has called on the Welsh Government to ensure that the new restrictions are reviewed regularly.
Denbighshire, along with Conwy, Flintshire and Wrexham, will be under specialised measures from 6pm on Thursday (October 1st), joining the 11 local authorities in Wales already in local lockdown.
Commenting on this evening’s news, James said:
“I have been following local Covid infection rates with some concern in recent times. The levels have been creeping up in household and healthcare settings and many people are very concerned about this.
“Equally I have heard from large numbers of constituents who are sceptical of the need for further restrictions and quite rightly have great concerns over their negative impact.
“To allow the virus to spread unabated would be unthinkable when immunity levels among the vulnerable are so low. However, I would urge the Welsh Government to be fully transparent in its justification for the new measures to be put into force and to ensure that these are reviewed regularly.”
