Vale of Clwyd MP Dr James Davies has described Denbighshire County Council’s handling of a controversial planning application for 102 house in Prestatyn as “indefensible”.
Approval for the development on pastoral land off Alexandra Road in Prestatyn, has been granted by Denbighshire councillors, despite strong objection from Prestatyn Town Council, local county councillors and residents.
Commenting on the approval of the scheme, Vale of Clwyd MP Dr James Davies said:
"The county council’s handling of this matter has been indefensible. The council acknowledged that the planning application did not meet its own adopted planning policies, but this was deemed to be outweighed by other factors. Yet those other factors don’t appear to accord with the council’s adopted policies either. To make matters worse, there were a number of procedural matters of great concern at Wednesday’s Planning Committee. I have written to the council to ask them to urgently revisit the decision."
