Vale of Clwyd MP Dr James Davies has welcomed news that a Denbigh butcher has been awarded first prize in his category in the highly esteemed Countryside Alliance Wales 2023.
Daniel Morris Butchers scooped the Champion Butcher prize at the regional awards which took place in Cardiff last week.
James said:
“Having encouraged people to vote for Daniel Morris Butchers in this contest, I was pleased to hear earlier this week that they had been successful, being awarded first prize in the Butcher category in the Welsh finals.
“The Rural Oscars are now in their sixteenth year and have become the definitive rural business award to win, celebrating those businesses that go the extra mile and are the cornerstone of our rural communities.
“What sets them apart from other awards is the fact that the winners are decided by the public. Daniel Morris is well known in the area for his quality produce, so it comes as no surprise to me that he has won.
“I congratulate Daniel and his team and look forward to returning to his Denbigh shop soon to purchase more delicious goods, and to pass on my best wishes in person.”
Daniel took over the business from J Williams Butchers and since that time has won a string of awards and really boosted turnover. In recent years he has also branched out to open two further shops in Mold and Llangollen.
Daniel said:
“We are delighted to have won and would like to say a huge thank you to everyone that nominated and voted for us, to all our local customers and especially to our fantastic hard working team at Daniel Morris Butcher.”
The winners of the Welsh final will go on to represent Wales at the House of Lords in the national champions’ reception in May.
