It is 20 years this week since Dr James Davies was first elected as a local councillor.
When James was elected in 2004, he became the youngest member of Denbighshire County Council at age 24.
James served on Denbighshire County Council and Prestatyn Town Council for 11 years, before being elected as the MP for the Vale of Clwyd in 2015 and again in 2019.
James said:
“It has been great to look back this week over the very busy last 20 years. So much has happened during that time and it has been an honour and a pleasure to be involved in progressing so many issues, including assisting in the retention of the Special Care Baby Unit in Bodelwyddan, helping to secure a permanent police base in Prestatyn, working to strengthen Flood Defences in the Vale, securing a banking hub, and securing millions for the area from the Levelling Up Fund - for Rhyl, Prestatyn and Denbigh.
“I was born in St Asaph and was brought up in Prestatyn, so the county of Denbighshire has always held a special place in my heart, and I am privileged to have been able to play a part in shaping and progressing the county over two decades.
“There have been some challenging times, but equally some very proud moments, most recently when Prestatyn was listed as ‘the best shopping destinations in Wales’ in retail vitality rankings earlier this year.
“The town has also won countless Wales in Bloom awards over the years, and, as Chair of Prestatyn in Bloom, I have enjoyed working with the group and local volunteers to ensure our town always looks its best.
“I was also pleased to support the Salusbury Arms in Tremeirchion and the Llandyrnog Community Shop with their reopenings.
“It has certainly been a busy and rewarding 20 years, but every hour invested has been worth it when you consider all that has been achieved across Denbighshire over that time.”
