Vale of Clwyd MP Dr James Davies MP welcomes that applications are now open for the Alternative funding schemes for energy bills support
For those who have not received all eligible HM Government energy bills support automatically, the following schemes are now open for applications:
- The Energy Bills Support Alternative Funding Scheme is open for those who have not received the £400 discount on their energy bills automatically. This scheme is for people who are NOT already receiving an automatic discount via an electricity bill.
You can check your eligibility here: https://www.gov.uk/apply-energy-bill-support-if-not-automatic
Likely eligible applicants include: wholly or partially funded care home residents; those living in homes on heat networks; residents of park homes; people who obtain their energy through a commercial contract; those off the National Grid; and tenants in certain private and social rented homes.
Payments to households that meet the eligibility criteria be made by local authorities, which in our area will be Denbighshire County Council.
- The Alternative Fuels Payment scheme has opened for those households which have not automatically received the £200 Alternative Fuels Payment (AFP). The AFP is, for example, for those who use alternative fuels for most of their heating, such as liquid petroleum gas, oil or solid fuel.
You can check your eligibility here: https://www.gov.uk/apply-alternative-fuel-bill-support-if-not-automatic
The vast majority of AFP eligible households in Great Britain will receive payment automatically via their electricity supplier with no need to take any action. However, you may not receive the payment automatically if your home is either: in an area which is mainly connected to the gas grid; or not connected to either the gas or the electricity grid.
James said:
“I welcome that these schemes have now opened for those who have not automatically received Government support towards their energy bills.
“The schemes will be welcome relief to those customers who do not have a typical relationship with an energy supplier, or who use alternative fuel sources, and have not automatically received support. They will ensure equity of energy bills support for these households in view of the rise in costs that we have seen in recent times.
"Once an application is made, and assessed, payments will be made by Denbighshire County Council in due course.
"If you have any questions, or want to discuss these schemes further, please drop an email to [email protected], and I would be happy to help.”
