Vale of Clwyd MP Dr James Davies is encouraging private, public, and third sector organisations to take advantage of a new round of funding available to help create and safeguard jobs in coastal communities.
The National Lottery Community Fund has announced the launch of Round 6 of the Coastal Communities Fund which supports the sustainable economic development of coastal areas.
Grants of between £50,000 and £300,000 are available for private, public, and third sector organisations that will sustainably create and/or safeguard jobs in these areas. Round 6 will also include a funding strand specifically targeted at supporting economic and social regeneration in town centre areas.
James said:
“Our coastal towns, which depend heavily on tourism, have been hit extremely hard by the Covid pandemic, so these grants are more vital than ever and I urge those eligible to take advantage of them.
“Previous rounds have attracted a diverse range of initiatives that have built on the wide strengths of the coastal economy including in the tourism, agriculture and manufacturing sectors. They have been oversubscribed in the past and it is anticipated that this latest round will also be very competitive, so I would encourage those wishing to benefit from this funding, to act fast.”
Since the start of the Coastal Communities Fund in 2012, grants have been awarded to 74 projects in Wales to the value of £16.1 million, creating over 350 direct jobs, 580 indirect jobs, and safeguarding over 700 existing jobs. Coastal Communities Fund is financed by Crown Estates marine revenues generated in Wales.
Stage one of the application process is now open until the deadline of noon, 2 October 2020 and those wishing to apply can find the full details of the programme and how to apply by visiting: https://www.tnlcommunityfund.org.uk/funding/programmes/coastal-communities-fund#section-1
