Vale of Clwyd MP Dr James Davies is encouraging people to make travelling on the rail network safer by downloading the Railway Guardian app.
The app was first launched in July last year through the British Transport Police #SpeakUpInterrupt campaign, which is part of their ongoing commitment to tackling violence against women and girls on the rail network.
Not only does the app encourage reporting of crimes, including unwanted sexual behaviour, but it also includes content aimed at encouraging positive behavioural change by providing advice on what is acceptable.
James said:
“People should be able to travel on public transport without fear of harassment or violence. But we know that all too often this is still not the case.
“By downloading and using the App, people will make travelling on the rail network safer for everyone.”
The app enables you to share your journey with your trusted contacts, ask for help, or alert them when you've arrived safely, giving both them and you peace of mind when you travel. It is the only police-backed safety app.
It also enables you to learn about acceptable behaviour on the network and report any crimes or concerns.
