Conservative MPs across North Wales have welcomed the commitment to change in the top team running Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board.
A spokesperson said:
“Only last week North Wales Conservative MPs called for assurances that the right leadership was in place to turn around performance at BCUHB.
‘We welcome the Board's acknowledgment that they 'need to accelerate the pace of change' and agree that 'it is time for someone else to lead the next phase' of their improvement.
‘Ultimately, the delivery of health services in Wales remains the responsibility of the Labour Welsh government. The BCUHB has been in special measures for almost five years and performance in key areas has been below what residents expect.
“When we meet with the chairman of the BCUHB next week we will be pressing for more information on their search for a replacement and the expected timetable. It will not be acceptable if this becomes a long and drawn out process or that interim arrangements become semi-permanent”.
