Vale of Clwyd MP Dr James Davies is encouraging any over 80s in North Wales who have not yet received their first Covid-19 vaccine to call the vaccinations booking centre to arrange an appointment.
The majority of people aged 80 years or over in North Wales have now received their first vaccination but any who have not yet received an appointment are advised to call the new vaccination booking centre: 03000 840004.
James said:
“Despite the slower roll-out in Wales, three quarters of over 80s have now received their first vaccination and this is good news. It is however vitally important that the remaining quarter are offered theirs too.
“If you are aged 80 years or over, or know of someone who is, and neither a first Covid-19 vaccination nor an appointment for it has been received, the health board are advising you contact the vaccinations booking centre to arrange an appointment.
“The opening hours are 8am to 8pm. I know the booking centre is very busy and people have been struggling to access the line. I have been in touch with the health board about this and they have assured me that these issues should reduce from today, as they are introducing more call handlers. However, if problems getting through remain, please contact me at [email protected].
“I am told that the best time to call is late afternoon, or during the evening before 8pm. It must be stressed that this hotline is only for the over 80s without a first appointment, and it must not be used for other enquiries.”
He added:
“Over 80s are more at risk from the virus and I can’t emphasise enough how important it is that they get protected as quickly as possible. Coronavirus has dominated our lives for almost a year now and our only route back to normal life is through vaccination.”
There is a target in place across the country for all over 70s to receive their first vaccination by February 15th.
