Prestatyn in Bloom have been successful in obtaining a grant of £5,336 from the Gwynt y Mor Windfarm Community Fund.
The organisation, which brings together like minded people in the town of Prestatyn for the common purpose of improving and enhancing the town's environment, will use the funding to help deliver a town which is an outstanding place to live, work, visit and enjoy, and enhance its diverse natural habitats.
Gwynt y Mor community funding is a long-term investment of £19 million, over the lifetime of the wind farm, and helps the coastal communities of Conwy, Denbighshire and Flintshire to achieve amazing things.
The fund is independently administered by Community & Voluntary Support Conwy (CVSC) in co-operation with Denbighshire and Flintshire Councils for Voluntary Services.
Welcoming news of the funding, Chair of Prestatyn in Bloom, Dr James Davies MP, said:
“This funding is very welcome indeed and will greatly benefit our work in the town.
“Prestatyn in Bloom is about much more than just flowers. We have a dedicated team of volunteers who work tirelessly throughout the year to ensure that our town is clean, attractive and welcoming for both locals and visitors and this funding will go a long way to helping us continue and expand the work we are currently doing.”
Carol Evans, Chair of Prestatyn in Bloom, said:
“We are delighted to receive this funding from the Gwynt y Mor Windfarm Community Fund which will help us greatly with our ongoing work in the town.
“The High Street in Prestatyn has been the location of many town centre events, including celebrations of the various Royal jubilees, His Majesty the King’s Coronation, as well as Christmas markets. These are all events particularly enjoyed by the residents of the town. and in addition to the planned environmental enhancements in the High Street and shopping area of the town, This funding will help us to continue to ensure that the High Street always looks its best.
“Friends of Coronation Gardens and Friends of the Ffrith will also benefit from the funding and have plans to enhance the areas they voluntarily look after so diligently.
“It is hoped the projects will encourage visitor numbers whilst also providing residents with a pride in their town.”
The group welcomes anybody who may wish to join their volunteer workforce as they dedicate their time in keeping the town looking its best.
