On Friday 12th May, property developer Rob Lloyd, CEO of Bearmont Group, hosted a medieval-themed charity fundraising event, marking his 30th fundraising challenge as part of the ongoing 'Rob's Senseless Challenge' campaign. The event saw a remarkable turnout, with participants dressing up in medieval attire and taking part in a march from Tal Y Fan to Denbigh Castle.
Rob Lloyd's previous challenges have already raised over £110,000 for Sense charity. The fundraiser commenced at Tal Y Fan, a historic building that Bearmont Group has renovated into a respite centre for Sense, providing short breaks and support to individuals with complex disabilities and their families.
"The building has lent itself well for this purpose and will hopefully serve as a popular hub for families in need of the facilities and care offered," said Rob Lloyd. "Revitalising this heritage-listed building and providing it with new life and purpose has been an incredibly rewarding experience."
The medieval-themed event brought together various participants, including 15 pupils from Rydal Penrhos School, 10 adults in medieval attire (including Simon Brown from Bearmont, Phil Burton from Lloyds Bank, Stephen Wright, ex-Liverpool FC player, actor Jack Marsden, David Armitage and Jonathan Morris from Gateley Legal, Jon Stubbs from Sense, Mia Lloyd Bearmont, and Paul Carter from 365 Ltd). Notably, representatives from the local council, including Gerald Thomas, Becky Williams, and Vice Chair Peter Scott and his wife, joined the march. Dr. James Davies MP also attended and had a guided tour of the centre.
Following the march, 70 pupils from Ysgol Twm or Nant, Denbigh, were entertained by Conwy Jester. The event was made possible by generous donations from sponsors, including Lloyds Bank, PMJ Capital, Gateley Legal, and Bearmont Group, who contributed £25,000 through a cheque presented on the day. The Knight Shop from Mochdre provided costumes for the participants and also donated a 25-carat gold-plated sword for the charity auction. A heartfelt thank you goes out to the sponsors and the Knight Shop for their invaluable support.
Rob Lloyd expressed his gratitude, saying, "The event was a resounding success, and we are thrilled with the incredible turnout and support we received. The funds raised will make a significant difference in the lives of individuals with complex disabilities and their families."
Dr James Davies MP, said: “Rob has raised a fantastic amount of money for such a worthy cause and I was extremely pleased to be invited to join him at his event on Friday. It was great to see so many in attendance. The transformational renovation work at Tal Y Fan is nearing completion and it is clear to see what an excellent facility this will be providing respite for people with complex needs and their families."
The day concluded with a well-deserved hog roast provided for all attendees.
