On June 25th 2021, I am hosting a Vale of Clwyd Climate Summit to highlight a variety of climate related issues both regionally and globally. Due to coronavirus restrictions, the event will take place on Zoom.
Climate change poses a serious threat to the future of our planet. It threatens the wellbeing of the Vale of Clwyd, particularly by way of increased storm damage and flooding.
In November, the UK will host the UN COP26 Climate Conference in Glasgow. This conference represents an important opportunity for global leaders to agree on steps to combat climate change. Despite the importance of this event, polling has shown that many people in the UK are not aware COP26, and I want use this local event to make sure local people are aware of the conference and are engaged with the global debates on climate change.
The Vale of Clwyd Climate Summit will involve three panels of experts who will each discuss some of the most important environmental and ecological issues of today. Topics discussed will range from energy generation to sustainable growth. There will also be opportunities for attendees to put their questions to the panellists.
I am also keen to use the event to highlight the good work that is going on in the region in relation to environmental issues.
If you would be like to be a part of the event, you can register your interest in taking part by emailing your name and full contact address to [email protected]. We require your address to confirm you are a constituent in the Vale of Clwyd.
