A Prestatyn based businesswoman was “thrilled” to attend an event in Parliament last month with Vale of Clwyd MP Dr James Davies at which local small businesses from across the country were celebrated.
Elin Hughes-Jones of Event Styling business Hire Hun was a guest at Meta’s ‘Small and Medium Business Christmas Westminster Reception’.
The event was a culmination of Meta’s ‘Good Ideas Studios Roadshow’ - a series of training events, networking and support sessions in Birmingham, Edinburgh and Manchester which equip hundreds of UK entrepreneurs with the skills and tools they need to grow their businesses with confidence.
James was invited to bring along a small business from his constituency and chose Hire Hun, which was established in 2020, as their growth has been strongly reliant on Instagram.
Elin said:
“I was absolutely thrilled to receive the invitation to attend this event and thank James for inviting me.
“I set up the businesses in 2020 after being furloughed from my job at the time and things are going really well. As well as the styling, I also provide tuition to help others create the changes that they want to see in their business.
“The online element is hugely important to my business, Instagram plays a huge role; the backdrops I create are all Instagram worthy, so I was thrilled to meet with Meta.
“Making the connection with them was extremely useful and there could be opportunities as a result. I work very much on my own, so it was good to be part of a wider conversation regarding entrepreneurs and how important they are to the local economy and how there is a need for more support for them. It was good to hear that Meta also see the importance of that.
“It was such a fantastic opportunity for me, and I am extremely grateful to James for inviting me.”
