Vale of Clwyd MP Dr James Davies is once again urging his constituents of pensionable age to check their eligibility for pension credit.
Pension Credit provides a vital income for our most vulnerable pensioners – worth more than £3,500 per year on average.
Last week was Pension Credit Week of Action. Organised by the Department of Work and Pensions, it aims to boost take-up of this benefit.
James said:
“Although take-up is at the highest level since 2010, with 2,605 households receiving Pension Credit in Vale of Clwyd as of November 2022, there will be pensioners out there who do not realise they are eligible and are therefore missing out.
“A pension credit award can also open doors to additional help and support – including help with housing costs, council tax, heating bills, a free TV licence for over 75s and extra cost-of-living payments.
“Pensioners, or their families, can check if they are able to claim this additional money by using the online Pension Credit calculator; https://www.gov.uk/pension-credit-calculator
“I encourage people in the Vale of Clwyd to share this information with family and friends who are over the State Pension age to ensure that everyone is aware of the help that is available to them."
Pension Credit can be claimed online, by telephone or by post. Information is available on Gov.UK website www.gov.uk/pension-credit or by calling the Freephone Pension Credit claim line on 0800 99 1234.
