Vale of Clwyd MP Dr James Davies is keen to promote an event which will take place in Rhyl next week as part of National Older Workers Week (20th-24th November 2023).
This national campaign is led by Working Wise to promote the benefits of multigenerational workforces and encourage employers to support and retain older workers.
In Denbighshire, a ‘Careers Wales and Partners Work and Wellness Event’ will be held at Rhyl Library on November 24th as part of the campaign.
This free event has been organised to link residents with service providers, allowing access to relevant support and valuable information focused on employment.
It has been made possible thanks to £3,529,632 being awarded to Working Denbighshire through the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund, to support the National Older Workers Week campaign.
There will be 20 stands at the event, offering a mix of support including career support, healthcare and social services.
Encouraging people to attend, James said:
“This is a fantastic opportunity for people who need advice on a whole range of things. It is not just about employment opportunities, but training too, and will also provide advice on pensions and finance.
"Multigenerational teams are good for business; they bring a wealth of different viewpoints and insights. With an ageing workforce and labour shortages, this demographic will become increasingly dominant and important (by 2025 one in three workers will be 50 or over).
“Whilst there is a wealth of information available online these days, nothing beats speaking to someone face-to-face and I am pleased that all this support and advice will be easily accessible to my constituents.
“The event will run for two hours between 11.30am and 1.30pm on November 24th and I encourage people to attend.”
The UK Shared Prosperity Fund is a central pillar of the UK government’s Levelling Up agenda and provides £2.6 billion of funding for local investment by March 2025.
The Fund aims to improve pride in place and increase life chances across the UK investing in communities and place, supporting local business, and people and skills.
