Vale of Clwyd MP Dr James Davies has welcomed the arrival of a new ground-breaking travel service to Denbighshire.
‘fflecsi’ is a different way to travel by bus and an exciting new pilot service from Transport for Wales in partnership with local bus operators.
It can pick up and drop off passengers within a whole service area and not just at a bus stop. The bus comes at the passenger’s request, changing its route so that all passengers can get to where they need to go.
The service arrived in Denbighshire on Monday (August 3rd).
Working with M&H coaches, fflecsi replaces the 66 service in Denbigh, covering Denbigh Town centre and Henllan, and in Prestatyn, replaces Townlynx service 40.
Welcoming the service to Denbighshire, James said:
The fflecsi service has proved to be extremely popular in South Wales where it was first rolled out, and I have no doubt that it will be just as successful here.
“The flexible services enable passengers to be picked up and dropped off near work, shops and homes by request, rather than following a set timetable at fixed bus stops.
“Due to the pandemic, some people are understandably nervous about travelling on public transport, but the fflecsi service allows bus companies to move people around while maintaining a social distance. Once a fflecsi passenger is booked on a service, the operator is able to guarantee that the passenger will have a seat and enough space to respect social distancing guidelines.
“It is an innovative way of putting the passenger in control of their journey and will, I am sure, make travelling by bus more appealing. I am pleased the service has arrived in Denbighshire and I encourage people to use it.”
Seats on fflecsi are booked using an Android/Apple app or by calling 0300 234 0300.
