Vale of Clwyd MP Dr James Davies is encouraging people living in Denbigh to help ensure the area benefits from faster broadband by pledging their support to Openreach’s Ultrafast Community Project by the end of this month.
Openreach wants to upgrade the broadband connection to properties in Denbigh to ‘Ultrafast’ Fibre To The Premises (FTTP).
This would bring the fastest and most reliable speeds available and offer major benefits to homes and businesses.
To ensure the scheme is viable, they need residents to pledge their Department for Digital Culture, Media and Sport Gigabit vouchers to the project.
Pledging a voucher also commits a household to a 12 month contract with any fibre provider.
James said:
“Households in Denbigh are currently entitled to a free Government Gigabit broadband voucher. This can be pledged to Openreach before the end of March to help make the company’s roll-out of ‘Ultrafast Fibre To The Premises’ broadband possible across the town.
“Many residents have already pledged their support, but I would encourage all those who haven’t yet done so to consider doing this quickly before the deadline, as a fast internet connection can bring significant economic and social benefits.”
Gwyn Hughes, Commercial Operations at Denbighshire Leisure, said:
“Like many local businesses, Denbighshire Leisure expanded the online services for customers throughout pandemic to try and keep everyone healthy and active. We will continue to grow our online offer as we come out of lockdown. Therefore, faster more reliable broadband for Denbigh is great news for us, our customers and local community.”
Full fibre technology provides more reliable, resilient and future-proof connectivity, meaning fewer faults, more predictable, consistent speeds and enough capacity to easily meet growing demands date demands.
