Vale of Clwyd MP Dr James Davies has thanked a town clerk who has retired this month after 27 years of dedicated service.
Nigel Acott took on the role of clerk at Prestatyn Town Council back in 1994 and had worked in public services for a total of 42 years.
James recently met Nigel to thank him in person for his commitment to the town over the years.
Commenting after, James said:
“Nigel has been completely committed to the role of town clerk since his very first day back in 1994 and it is sad to see him go after all these years.
“He has played an instrumental role in making Prestatyn the thriving town it is today, and has won awards for some of the work he has been involved in during his time as clerk.
"I have known Nigel for 23 years. I vividly recall working with him and addressing the then council in 1998, when I was still a teenager, helping to set up a first website for the town. I later worked with him closely over my 11 years as a Prestatyn Town Councillor.
“Like many, I am extremely grateful for his hard work and dedication to the role and I was very pleased that at his special retirement reception, he was presented with an Honorary Freeman of Prestatyn and Meliden for his services.
“He is certainly going to be a very hard act to follow.
“I wish Nigel well in his retirement and thank him once again for the huge contribution he has made to Prestatyn during his time as clerk.”
