Vale of Clwyd MP Dr James Davies has welcomed the opening of a new and additional temporary Jobcentre in Rhyl.
The second Jobcentre in the town is situated at 7 Bodfor Street and will run alongside the existing Jobcentre Plus in the High Street.
It has been opened to deal with further increases in demand for Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) services as a result of the pandemic.
James, who in June visited Job Centre Plus on Rhyl High Street with UK Government’s Employment Minister Mims Davies MP, said:
“As a result of the scale of demand for its services due to the pandemic, the recruitment of more Work Coaches, and the need to accommodate these and its existing staff safely, there has been a requirement for the Department of Work and Pensions to expand its estates capacity on a temporary basis, allowing all staff to adhere to social distancing measures.
“When I visited the existing Jobcentre Plus in Rhyl with the Minister in the summer, I heard from staff of the extraordinary pressures that have been placed on Jobcentres across the country due to the pandemic.
“This additional resource to deal with these pressures in Rhyl is therefore very much needed and welcomed, and I look forward to visiting the new Jobcentre and meeting staff."
