Vale of Clwyd’s Dr James Davies MP and Gareth Davies MS joined the opening day festivities of the Eisteddfod yr Urdd Denbighshire 2022 at Kilford Farm in Denbigh.
The week-long festival was the first and largest national cultural event held for the young people of Wales since the Covid-19 pandemic.
2022 marked the event’s 100th year anniversary and thousands of competitors from across Wales had the opportunity to perform on stage in one of the three pavilions.
Commenting, James said:
"After two years of disruption to this esteemed national cultural event, it was great to welcome Eisteddfod yr Urdd to the Vale of Clwyd and to see it so well attended, with almost 120,000 visiting over the week.
"Urdd officials were delighted with the event which saw merit in all the major competitions and the ceremonies held on an outdoor stage were well received and well attended.
"Over the course of the week nearly 500 competitions were held for children and young people up to the age of 25, including singing, poetry, dancing, art and much more, with many local school pupils taking to the stage. A huge well done to everyone who competed."
