Championing the Vale of Clwyd

Since my election in 2019, I have been proud to highlight the many fantastic contributions made by local businesses, groups and individuals in helping the Vale of Clwyd thrive. The articles below are a selection of the ways in which I have championed our local area in recent months.

  • Global Changemaker Awards.

    Vale of Clwyd MP Dr James Davies is asking constituents to get in touch if they know an individual or school they would like to be put forward for the ONE Campaign’s Global Changemaker Awards.

  • Business Champions Event at Number 10

    I was pleased to invite Tony Palframan managing director of Phoenix Optical Technologies, St Asaph Business Park to attend a Business Champions Event in Downing Street. Tony founded the St Asaph based company in 1991 and since that time it has grown from strength to strength.

  • Cuddles Charity celebrated in Downing Street

    I invited Frank Jones, the founder member and Chairman of ‘Cuddles’ to the Local Charity Champion Reception at No10. 'Cuddles' has provided invaluable support to both parents and the Neonatal Unit at Glan Clwyd Hospital over a substantial number of years.

  • North Wales journalist celebrated as a 'Local Media Champion'

    I and Aberconwy MP Robin Millar invited Suzanne Kendrick, Newsquest's North Wales Coastal chief reporter to join a select group of journalists from across the country at a reception was hosted by Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport Lucy Frazer, KC MP.

     

     

  • Your Community Your Choice

    The ‘Your Community, Your Choice’ initiative, supported by the North Wales Police and Community Trust (PACT) and North Wales Police celebrates a decade of funding projects in 2023 and to celebrate this milestone, the funding available to apply for has doubled to £120,000.

  • Championing Denbigh Butcher

    Daniel Morris Family Butcher in Denbigh are in contention for a Welsh title in the Butcher category at the Countryside Alliance Awards.

  • Countryside Alliance Awards 2023

    The annual Countryside Alliance Awards 2023 are now open to public nomination.  

    I have been asked to encourage nominations and I welcome your participation. 

  • Wales in Bloom

    There is cause for celebration in Prestatyn with the town having scooped yet another gold award in the annual Wales in Bloom contest. 

  • August Bank Holiday events

    Vale of Clwyd MP Dr James Davies is keen to congratulate all those involved in organising the spectacular bank holiday events which took place in the area, attracting visitors from far and wide.  

  • Eisteddfod yr Urdd Denbighshire 2022

    Vale of Clwyd’s Dr James Davies MP joined the opening day festivities of the Eisteddfod yr Urdd Denbighshire 2022 at Kilford Farm in Denbigh. The week-long festival was the first and largest national cultural event held for the young people of Wales since the Covid-19 pandemic. 

  • Trefnant Garage expansion

    A long-established Trefnant business, which has relocated to Bodelwyddan to allow for a business expansion, has been applauded by Vale of Clwyd MP Dr James Davies.  

  • Supporting the Llandyrnog Community Shop

    Llandyrnog village has, in recent times, suffered the loss of two pubs, the butchers, and a large creamery. Therefore, the subsequent threat of closure of the local shop and Post Office was seen as a “call to action” for the local community.

  • Unique Rhyl bakery providing community support

    Vale of Clwyd MP Dr James Davies was hands on during a visit to a Rhyl bakery, rolling his sleeves up to knead dough whilst finding out more about how the bakery is helping to support the local community.

  • Brighter Futures Rhyl

    Vale of Clwyd MP Dr James Davies has applauded the work of a Rhyl based charity which is providing invaluable support to the local community.  James visited Brighter Futures, situated on 34 Wellington Road, which is going from strength to strength since its establishment in 2018. 

  • The village spirit of Cefn Meiriadog

    Vale of Clwyd MP Dr James Davies paid a visit to Cefn Meiriadog last week to meet residents and to discover more about the school, church and village hall.

  • Castell Gwyn Cheese

    Vale of Clwyd MP, Dr James Davies has applauded a woman who has grown her love of cheese into an award-winning business after visiting the dairy she opened at her Rhuddlan home in 2021.   

  • Snowdonia Cheese

    Vale of Clwyd MP Dr James Davies was delighted to remind Boris Johnson of the delights of Snowdonia Cheese at a festive food and drink market in Downing Street, having previously championed the success of the company in Parliament.

  • Ruthin company apprenticeship programme

    Ruthin-based Jones Bros Civil Engineering UK have been applauded for the opportunities they are providing young people at their Denbigh training centre and for their future plans for the former Denbigh Hospital site.
